Luminar Neo Simple Edit in 10 Steps

I have created a simple 10-step tutorial to help aspiring landscape photographers get up to speed with tools like Luminar Neo. Grab the tutorial here, and the example practice file here. 10 Steps

Step 1.

Get the photo out in the field or for a handy example, click this download link to grab the practice file.

Step 2.

Open the photo in Luminar Neo. Don’t currently have it, grab the trial.

Step 3.

Select the Edit option.

Step 4.

Select the Develop option under Essentials.

Step 5.

Select the Masking option under Develop and click Mask AI.

Review how Luminar Neo has categorized the various portions of the photo into different masks: Sky, Flora, Water, etc. In this example, both the Sky and Water masks are selected.

With the Sky and Water masks visible, you can get a good idea of how clean Luminar Neo masked them out. The recommendation is to adjust one mask at a time by selecting the Adjustments option within Develop.

Step 6.

You can adjust the Exposure and Smart Contrast sliders in Develop to bring out the sky a bit more or...

Step 7.

You can further adjust the photo by adjusting the Dehaze and Foliage Hue sliders in Landscape under the Landscape option.

Step 8.

With all of the recent adjustments of the example file, we can clean up the water. Select the Erase option, and select each item in the water that you’d like to remove. Once all are selected, click Erase.

Step 9.

As a final edit to improve the colors in the sky, select the Super Contrast option and adjust the Highlights Contrast slider under Adjustments.

Step 10.

As the final step in this simple edit, select the Export to Disk option in the upper right corner to save the updated photo to your desired destination.
